G Loomis E6X Rod Preview and “Loomifcation”

February 11, 2015

Bobby Bergren

G Loomis has been the staple of fishing rods across america for many years. I have been fishing G Loomis and Shimano reels since I was 15 years old. I still remember the day when the “Loomification” began.

8 years ago, I started my first job in the fishing industry at Mik Lurch Tackle in Hammond, IN. After working at Mik Lurch for a months,  one rod on the rack always caught  my attention and that was  the G Loomis BSR852 MossyBack.

I knew  when I picked up the Mossback BSR852 I knew I had to have it! I cannot recall how many nightcrawlers I had to count, the number of minnows I scooped, and super early mornings at Mik Lurch. I finally saved up after a few months and joined the G Loomis family and became diagnosed with what we call  being “Loomified”.

I was hooked, I takethe BSR852 with me on all my fishing trips and still fish with it to this very day. It is one of my most valued possessions.

Lets delve deeper into the psychology of buying G Loomis rods and beoming “loomified”

In the unofficial Mik Lurch dictionary,  “Loomified” |  Definition The state of mind in which, one only chooses G Loomis rods as the only choice for fishing and cannot see life fishing without a G Loomis rod.

Side effects of Loomification- Constant memorizing of G Loomis rod series and rod numbers, the continual search of finding the “Perfect fishing rod selection to have on the boat”, and the inability to find higher quality rods.

Cure- No cure has been found, because the G Loomis anglers seem to be in a great state of mind after purchasing until the itch comes for a new rod!

Now becoming  “Loomified” may sound like a bad thing but I've been “Loomified” Since 2007 and never regretting being G Loomis fanboy. I truly believe that G Loomis produces the finest fishing rods in the world and continually creates new series that cater to the new age fishermen. I enjoy fishing with quality products and believe G Loomis is the best. G Loomis 4 Lyfe!

Now its time to get Loomified with the newest series from G Loomis, the E6X series. I brought up Loomification because E6X appeals to the the younger generation of bass fishermen and the new trends in bass fishing. I’m a broke college kid and I know the long hours it took to be able to afford save a G Loomis rod but the G Loomis E6X will make purchasing your first Loomis affordable at competitive price point with all the quality that comes with the G Loomis name.

EXPERIENCE G. LOOMIS WITH NEW E6X ROD SERIES –

30 RODS IN BOTH TECHNIQUE SPECIFIC AND CLASSIC ACTIONS

WOODLAND, Wash. USA – February 9, 2015 Release Date -- New for Spring Fishing 2015 – Designed around a performance platform with a focus on weight, balance, sensitivity and action, anglers of all levels can experience what G. Loomis is all about with the new E6X rods series, soon to be available for spring ’15 fishing action. The series includes 30 casting and spinning rods, offered in both technique specific models with exacting actions, and ‘Classic’ models with easy to cast, more forgiving actions for use with a variety of lures.

The new E6X rod series introduces anglers to what G. Loomis rod designers refer to a ‘swing-weight’, the proper rod balance needed when fishing ‘tip up’ techniques like pitching/flipping and casting tubes, jigs, soft plastic jerkbaits and drop shot rigs, and ‘tip down’ lures like crankbaits, spinnerbaits or swimbaits. “Proper balance lets anglers concentrate on what is happening on the end of the line, rather than the tip of the rod,” said G. Loomis’ Bruce Holt. “With the E6X series and the G. Loomis’ Multi-Taper Technology behind them, we can provide light, sensitive, yet powerful rods for all types of bass fishing techniques – what anglers know and come to expect form G. Loomis and all at a very comfortable price.”

There are 12 E6X technique specific casting rods designed for jig & worm use, for flipping and punching, crankbait and spinnerbait specific, along with four technique specific spinning models for small jigs, tubes and worms, plus two drop shot spinning rods. Holt notes that both the casting and spinning jig & worm rods have the needed extra-fast tips, the crankbait rods have the needed slower, softer actions, while stiff, powerful actions are found on the flip/punch rods and unique actions are featured on the spinnerbait, swimbait and drop shot rods. The entire technique specific rods feature split grip handles with cork grips, along with Fuji reels seats and guides.

The 12 Classic multi-purpose E6X models include six ‘Mag Bass’ and flipping action casting rods, and six spin jig spinning rods. They all feature fast tapers with powerful but-sections, load easily for casting accuracy. All the E6X Classic rods come with full cork grips, Fuji guides and Fuji exposed blank trigger reels seats.

“Offering both performance and value, just about all anglers can experience what G. Loomis rods are all about,” said Holt. “The rods really become an natural extension of you, providing the fish-catching fingertip sensitivity that anglers who know expect from G. Loomis rods. And while we have a main focus on bass fishing, anglers will discover E6X rods that have great actions and lengths for walleye, northern pike and inland striper situations.”

As with all G. Loomis rods, the new E6X rods are handcrafted in Woodland, Washington USA. For more information, visit gloomis.com, call 800/GLoomis, or stop by your nearest G. Loomis tackle dealer.

It's fish-on and they'll never know what hit them. Check out finesse fishing at its finest!!

E6X 822S DSR -- A slightly more powerful drop-shot rod designed for deep-water and fishing around cover. Soft enough in the tip to be effective, yet powerful enough to pull a good fish away from trouble.  It's more powerful than our "820" (0-power) and you can fish 10- or 12-pound line as deep as 60-feet if that's where they're holding.  It's designed for fishing lakes like Lanier or Mead where fish suspend in the brush and treetops.  There's plenty of power for moving big fish away from the junk and it still offers the ultimate in a stealthy, finesse approach. Advantage angler!

E6X 842S SJR – A really nice 7', 8-14 pound spinning rod for fishing light jigs, tubes or other soft plastics in deeper water where cover really isn't an issue.  It has a fast taper for increased power and a light tip that makes it a great choice for buzzbaits and other topwater baits. The seven-foot length increases the "tip radius" during the cast as well as the hookset and that means more distance as well as more positive hook-ups.  E6X provides great performance at a real value in such a versatile rod!

E6X 843S SJR -- A sneaky powerful, deep-water worm and jig spinning rod… especially where there's a little more cover involved.  It has a medium-heavy power rating that allows you to fish lure weights of up to ¾ ounce.  The extra length extends your casting range and improves hook-ups.  It’s a great choice for pike and big, deep-water largemouths.  The quick taper gives you better control in the wind and positive hook-sets.  E6X makes it light, sensitive and affordable!

To better understand what the numbers on a G Loomis rod stand for are length and power. The First two numbers in the sequence mean how long the rod is in inches so take JWR852 the rod is 85 inches meaning the rod is 7'1" and the 2 and the end of the sequence means it has a 2 rated power which is a "Medium" power. 2- Medium, 3- Medium-Heavy, 4- Heavy.

Next time your looking for a new rod, be sure to pick up an E6X and get loomified!

If your looking into getting a rod a few rods I would highly reccomend looking into these 3 models:  E6X 847C CBR, E6X 853C, and E6X 812C SBR.
